Building Your Home in Idaho Falls

Idaho Falls is one of the fastest-growing areas in Eastern Idaho, and new homes here range from in-town lots with city utilities to acreage outside city limits. Where your lot sits changes the process:

  • Inside city limits: permits and inspections go through the City of Idaho Falls Building Division.
  • Outside city limits: permits and inspections go through Bonneville County Planning & Zoning. As of 2026, the county also handles electrical and plumbing permits.
  • Rural lots with a well or septic: these need approval from Eastern Idaho Public Health before building.

We handle permitting for every build, so you don’t have to figure out which office covers your lot. We’ll sort that out during the planning phase.
